Claire Beauchamp Randall, a World War II nurse, is mysteriously transported back in time to Scotland in 1743. There, she meets a dashing Highland warrior and becomes embroiled in an epic rebellion. Moore (the television series’ developer), his team decided to keep the Gaelic words rather than translate them into English. This maintained the first-person narrative, showing Claire’s inability to understand the Gaelic language.
The opening theme song changes from season to season to reflect the events taking place in the plot
The idea came from producer David Brown, who said he saw something similar in Skin Deep (1998), a foreign alternative film starring actor and singer Gustavo Goulart. In some episodes, the characters say «OK.» An American expression that only came into use in the 19th century. In the first half of the second season (which is set in France), some of the lyrics are in French. In the second half of the second season (which is mostly about the preparations for war), a militaristic drum roll is added to the opening theme.

In season 3, tribal drums are added, as most of the season is set in the West Indies. In season 4, bluegrass fiddle and banjo are added, and some of the lyrics are spoken in a southern accent, as most of the season is set in America. I discovered this series late and managed to get through season 7A in a month
The first two seasons feel like a completely different series, it’s engaging, and I really want another one. But oh my god the beginning of season 3 was torture, I know a lot of people don’t like Richard but I love him as Roger, he just makes the character more realistic. Sophie on the other hand is trying to play an overly spoiled child as a drama student. Her scenes are downright painful to watch and there is no chemistry between her and Richard and man whose idea was that awful accent?
