A modern story of the search for fortune in the world of West Texas oil rigs. Landman, at least one working in the oil industry, will act as an intermediary between exploration companies and landowners. It is usually the landowner’s job to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Basically, they manage the land and secure the leases so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, workers’ living quarters (human camp), supervise the assembly of digging equipment and the drilling of the well site itself, especially in remote areas. They are also part fixers, problem solvers and enablers. Reference to CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022). It could easily have been rated 8.5-9. If it weren’t for the annoying and so sexualized daughter & ex-wife/mother. They don’t serve the plot and are just plain annoying and insulting to the women of West Texas. Being far west from Texas myself, I understand where Sheridan is coming from in a sense, but it’s awful. West Texas women are the strongest and most ambitious women I know. Other than that, the writing and acting are excellent. Sheridan easily has another Yellowstone on his hands if he gets rid of the very awkward cross-family hornet. But again, love me Sheridan’s writing (and acting) and absolutely a very enjoyable show, for the most part.
